I love the 4th of July! It has always been one of my favorite holidays. When the 4th of July comes, it is officially summertime. It is a time for parades, fireworks, swimming, barbecues, and John Phillip Sousa. We fit all of those things except for a parade into our holiday this year. We drove up to Escondido and spent the day with Kelson's grandparents, his step dad, and his cousins. We made homemade ice cream (Kelson had never done it before!), went swimming, and ate delicious food. That evening, we enjoyed an awesome Marine Corps Band concert followed by fireworks in the park in Escondido. There was a slight glitch with the soundtrack resulting in the announcement to safely exit the park coming just before the grand finale. That was a little bit anticlimactic, although it wasn't nearly as bad as the fireworks on San Diego bay that all blew up at once. Oops. We wished we had been there to see that. It was a fun 4th of July here in San Diego.
