Kate's Blessing Day

On her 2 month birthday, Kelson gave Kathryn Diane a name and a blessing at church. Grandma and Grandpa Hindman and Aunt Katy came for her special day. Some of the things mentioned in her blessing were that her parents and her Heavily Father love her, she will rediscover the love of Heavenly Father in each stage of her life, she will receive the blessings of baptism and the temple, and that someday she will return home to her Heavenly Father and be happy to see him again. It was a beautiful blessing. Kate was blessed in an heirloom gown that belonged to my grandfather over 110 years ago. I was blessed in the same gown, as were Sarah and Chris.

Kate was named for my sister, Katy. She has a wonderful role model to look to! Kate's middle name is mine, and I was named after my mom's sister and best friend, both of whom are named Diane.

Kate: 2 Months

We have had our beautiful Kate with us for 2 months!
 Kate at 2 months:
  • Weight: 8 lbs 12 ounces,   Length: 21 inches (For interest, Sarah was 3 inches longer and 3 pounds heavier at the same age)  More than double her birth weight. Yay! At birth, Kate was in the 5th percentile for a 36 week infant. Now she is in the 25th percentile compared to other babies born at 36 weeks.
  • Doing much better nursing and is gaining weight well enough that we can stop fortifying her breastmilk with formula, and she can nurse for all of her feedings. Great news!
  • Finally giving us some great smiles. She smiled occasionally over the last several weeks, but just in the last few days she has been smiling in response to us.
  • Blessed at church today
  • Kate is a pretty good sleeper. She is usually only up once or twice a night and falls asleep on her own after we swaddle her and give her a pacifier. She is also a great napper (unlike both of her siblings.)
  • Rather than having a fussy time in the evening, Kate has an awake time. We swaddle her and stick her in her seat and she sucks on her pacifier and stares at us with her big eyes for an hour until she falls asleep.
  • Overall, Kate is a pretty relaxed, easy baby. Such a joy to have in our family!
