Kate: 6 Months

We are half way through our first year with Kate!
  • Kate is 14 pounds 10 ounces and 25 1/4 inches. That puts her at about the 22nd percentile on the REGULAR growth chart (not the adjusted preemie chart we have been using since she was born). She had a big growth spurt this month and is catching up on her growth. She finally moved into 3-6 month clothes, and I don't think she will be in them for long.
  • Sadly, she doesn't sleep through the night any more, but she is still the best sleeper we have ever had.
  • Still her happy, calm self. Everyone comments on what a good baby she is. She went to Captain Marvel and Endgame with us and didn't make a peep in either one. In fact, she slept through most of it.
  • Celebrated her half birthday by finally rolling from back to front while we were visiting Grandma. My children seem to meet all of their milestones at Grandma's house.
  • She has figured out how to use her hands for grabbing everything. Sarah's hair is the best target, but anyone's hair or glasses will do. She also loves toys, especially her monkey.
  • Still sleeping in the laundry room in the pack n play. We are working on getting her moved into Chris's room.

Kate loves Daddy! She gives him a huge smile every time she sees him.

Kate did some modeling for Aunt Amy this month. Wouldn't you buy this fabric and sewing pattern if you saw it on a baby this cute? I would.

Kate celebrated her first Easter this month. She was not impressed during our less-than-successful photo shoot.
We ditched the swaddle this month. I love it when we are done swaddling. The baby looks so much more comfortable with her arms out! Luckily it was a pretty easy transition for Kate.
Sporting one of Mommy's vintage baby dresses. Just try not to smile at that face.
If you own a baby butterfly costume, the baby obviously must try it on.
We haven't quite started solids yet, but Kate's first taste was a celery stick to chew on during lunch. She thought it was quite tasty. We tried a bell pepper too, which she hated. That one made her cry.
First time in the swing was a success!
One afternoon, Kate woke up from her nap and then fell back asleep in my arms. By some miracle, the other two played nicely for half an hour while Kate and I cuddled and I read a book. It was beautiful. These quiet moments with a sleeping baby are rare with two older hooligans running around.

Take a close look at Kate's pupils. The right one is almost always bigger. Apparently we do weird eye things in our family. This is called anisocoria. It is probably completely harmless, but she is seeing an ophthalmologist next month to have it checked out.
Just hanging out in the stroller while Mommy and Daddy garden. Doing yard work is challenging with a baby around.
 She made it!
And back down. She got better at it later.
